Sunday on Spiritual Awakening Radio: Jainism, Part 3
Hear Spiritual Awakening Radio Sunday at Noon Eastern, which is 11 AM Central, 10 AM Mountain and 9 AM Pacific Time, streaming via
http://www.HealthyLife.NET
(Click on the blue "listen live" button.)
I begin the program by reading sayings of Lord Mahavira on ahimsa (non-violence in thought, word, and deed) musically accompanied by the sitar and tablas, then eventually go to my guest: Pravin K. Shah, a member of the Jaina Education Committee and founder of this Jainist library online: www.JainLibrary.org The conversation is about the Jain religion, but also we discuss other religions too, including the question about Buddhism and God: "Is there a God in Buddhism"? For him the answer is yes. I agree with him that Buddhists really have an impersonal nameless or unnamed God or State of God (Nirvana). In Jainism this is known as the Supreme Soul. Buddhism and Jainism are "cousin" religions with origins in the same region of India. Most people in the West not acquainted with Jainism might mistake a statue of Mahavira for the Buddha.
You can listen to many editions of Spiritual Awakening Radio online at my archive page. Parts One and Two of the Jainism series are there, and Part Three is about to be added as well. GO TO:
